On today’s episode I’m joined by KEVIN O’CONNOR. In 1995 Kevin founded DoubleClick with Dwight Merriman where they created a system to display banner ads across a network of websites and track their performance to better target internet users. In 1998 Doubleclick went public and the company quickly grew to over 2k employees in 25 countries. In 2005 the company was sold to a private equity firm for $1.1 billion, and two years later in the biggest acquisition ever at the time, Google spent $3.1 billion in cash on Doubleclick to expand its ability to place ads across the Internet. Doubleclick is the standard for ad serving with over 90% market share. More recently Kevin has been doing VC work and his latest company Graphiq was sold to Amazon to help improve its Alexa virtual assistant and other services. He is no doubt a Net OG! Welcome Kevin.
